Default there is a 2005 BOSS out there!

...but not where i would have expected it at all

in the "Australian GT" post, there was a post to some cars that ford made but didnt sell in the USA...here is something called the GT-P ...with a BOSS engine

Its 5.4-litre capacity, 32 valves and double overhead camshafts per bank work in concert to produce 290 kilowatts of power and a phenomenal 520 Newton metres of torque. So not only is there free-revving top-end power but a wall of torque at low speeds as well. In combination with the tuned stainless steel exhaust system, it produces the trademark rumble that lets you know you're driving a real, blue-blooded Aussie V8. It has a quality that clearly communicates who exactly owns the road.

edit: for those who dont want to do the conversions

290kW = 388.9hp
520Nm = 383.5 ft/lbs

Looks like a powerplant they would put into the Ford Falcon........which I think (but I'm not 100% sure) is what the GT-P designation is badged on. Yet another lovely Ford product we can't get here in the States[:'(]

I used to get on an Australian Mustang Fansite Forum a while back and I saw some pics of some pretty clean Falcons. But, they don't have the Mustang down there ..........and I've heard of ppl paying as much as 100K+ to get an 05/06 GT down there. So I guess we can't complain too much huh?

But man, those GT-P's are pretty awesome......imagine if Ford had a mid-sized 4-door V8 powered car in the States? Especially one that is this sporty.

Power is great, but did anyone realize that it is a 4door sedan.

Remember that we had the Merauder (I hope I spelled that right) here, which I don't think that they had. Same concept.

That would probably be a great car to go up against the charger.

Yea, true.......but the GT-P is a mid sized car, not full-sized like the Marauder and the Charger. Shoot, in 4 years I'll be looking for a practical replacement for my daily driver V6 mustang.....I would definitely look into something like this if I wanted 4 doors, just with a different spoiler[8D]:

The Mercury Marauder? That's just a high performance Grand Marquis, hardly the same concept as the GT-P.

If Pontiac can bring the GTO from Australia then I think Ford could bring that over for sure.
