Default blackout panel

I like the look of the blackout panel, between the tail lights. However I wasnt impressed by the vinyl cover that I purchased. It was impossible to put on, and looked cheap in my opinion. Are there any other options? I would even consider painting that section if that was possible, and didnt cost $1000.

I went with the SilverHorse Racing taillight panel, I love the way it looks, the quality and finish are top notch and the installation took about 5 minutes.

I got mine painted and was really pleased by the way it turned out. Here is a picture of it.

It was $9500.......just joking. It was included with the hail repair damage so I am not exactly sure how much it was since I had him do the hood and spoiler as well.

This is a great question. I have been looking at these as well. I really like the quality look of the "honeycomb" panel, but worry about cleaning it, as the front grill which is honeycomb is a bitch to keep clean. The other thing I'm "iffy" about with this one, is the way it protrudes around the GT emblem. I would like to see that area more beveled, as it were......since I do want to keep the back badge.

I had seen one blackout panel advertised as a "zenon" panel, but the price was only about 45.00 or so, so my assumption is that it's a real thin, almost film like panel. Not good.

What type was the vinyl cover you ended up getting?

Thanks,
Mike

See what he says on paint cost; shouldn't be that bad; would prefer they do base and clear; they may want to do single stage urethane which is fine for that area if they can save you significant money but I'm not thinking it will and personally would not go that way. If you have had any thoughts of eliminating the fake gas cap and lock, now is the time. (and you could go same color as car; a bit "trick" you know?)

05,
Your painted panel came out great!! Love the photo, as it really shows it off!

As a footnote;
Twice in the last six weeks we have had hail here in Southern California. Very odd. Both times, all i could do was stare out the door at work, with visions of your poor pony going thru my head!! Fortunately, it lasted about two or three minutes, and very small hailstones.....Thank you lord!!

Thanks for the compliment. I know what you mean, everytime I hear hail in the forecast I cringe. There is nothing I can do at work but when I am at home, it goes in the garage.

I really like the blackout panel look. Nice job '05. I think it would be great with the color combo I got on mine. Just another investment done the road. Ahhh, does it ever stop!
