Default Brake kits

I am planning on upgrading the brakes. Anyone done this yet or have experience with HP brakes. Just trying to make an informed decision on my purchase. Any input would be great.
Thanks

If you want a good deal on brakes, try the ones used on last gen Cobra- kits are avaiable for around $400.

Includes 13" Brembo Brake Rotors, Cobra Brake Calipers and Brake Lines. I had these on my 98 GT they looked and performed great. I'm not sure if they'll be a direct bolt-on with the S197 Mustangs but it's definately worth checking into.

Make sure your current rims give you the clearance needed for the larger rotors and calipers. Otherwise your $400 kit may end up costing you 3 times as much for the Brake Kit + New rims and tires.

Must have 17". At least that was the deal with the prior years.

rattsj, I thought Derf's caution to check clearance had more to do with the girth of the Cobra calipers--not its rim diameter requirements. You need to clearance in two planes, not just one.

Ex: when Mustang Tuning first started offering deep dish bullit style wheels, they could give you 18" rims no problem, but they wouldn't clear our front calipers without spacers (due to their position relative to the mounting hub). This problem wouldn't have been resolved with 20"s or any size for that matter (the interference was in a different plane). With the new modified design of the wheel, their 18" now clear.

If you go to most brake manufacturers sites (Stop Tech, Wilwood, Baer seem to be the main players today that offer affordable kits), you can get templates for their brakes to check for clearance on your particular car.

Best,
-j
