Gears
I have a 06 GT manual and I have been looking to do the 4.10 gears next. I have been doing a lot of research and it seems that there is only two options frpp or Motive. My question is which one should i go with ... money isnt the option I just want the best ones that will last the longest without the whine. Also if I am wrong and there is other options please point them out. thanks
Lots of threads on this one. I went with the Motives and had whine. Double and triple checked pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash but still noisey. Took them out a week later and put in FRPP gears and no problems! Did hard launches at the track and all is still well. I know FRPP has revised their gears by doing a single pass laser cut instead of a three pass cnc and beveled the backside of the pinion to keep them quiet. IMO - FRPP is the way to go.
I have a 06 auto GT and I want to add 3.73 gears what is EVERYTHING THAT I will need..??
shims for bearing preload and backlash ??? .. gasket..lube/gear oil.. I can look it up if somebody can tell me where to look or which person to call..
I just don't want to be doing the job and NEED something..( I hate when that happens) I am also going with Ford racing gears..
what is the deal with 9.8" long and 8. ???? whatever long lenght..?? sorry my first Ford as I looked at fordracing.com and there are two parts listed for our cars..??? ( as far as length for the pinion )
thanks in advance for ANY and ALL help...!!!!

The FRPP gear set comes with a new pinion nut, crush sleeve and pinion shims. You should also get a new rear pinion bearing. You will need a shim assorment for the carrier to set the backlash properly. You will need 3 quarts of synthetic 75/90 gear lube and friction additive. I used the ford lube and additive even though it cost more. There are others that are a little cheaper. A front seal isn't really needed unless it is damaged during the pinion removal which is rare. If you had high miles, then it would be good to go ahead and change it. That is all that you will need, and the rear end is an 8.8", and the gears and pinion are all the same for an 8.8" rear differential.
Now all you need is a good installer!

I'm getting my 4.10's next week! My dad already got his, he beat me to it... At least I have CAI over his stock box, i'm hoping that I can take him at the track on Wednesday. I'll have videos of us at the track.
