Satin Aluminum Panel vs Charcoal Aluminum Panel
Hello all,
I just got my 06 GT last Monday (yeah, better late than never....Black, Automatic, IUP, Polished Aluminum 18" Wheels). I originally ordered one, but was riding the fence on not getting the 06 GT because of production timing (with 07's to be started in June), and my dealer was informed that they were only getting 2 more GT's for this year...mine would be the 3rd order. My sales rep found the car I wanted at another dealer, long story short, I got it. One problem she overlooked was that I wanted the Satin Aluminum Paneling, and this has the Charcoal Aluminum Paneling. She looked up pricing and told me that the 3 pieces around the vents would be $250 but the 2 pieces on the air bag are actually a part of the air bag, which is $700. She said Ford wouldn't pay for it, but she'd help pay out of her own pocket if I chose to order the different parts. She also stated that if she got in a GT witih the Satin Panel they might be able to switch them out...and that they have V6's in house with the Satin Paneling but they needed to find out if the schematics and specs were the same so that a switchout may be possible...and hasn't gotten back to me on that yet. I guess my question is, does anyone know?

You can buy kits that will give you the effect you want much cheaper. Several people here on the boards have installed them. I believe that they sell them on ebay for $200'ish and it stick on with glue.

I personally think since it was dealer error they should replace at no charge with what I ordered. She knows that and is supposedly trying to find a way to do it. I COULD live with the charcoal panel...but I love the satin.
I'd hate to have to purchase anything extra to get what I'm already paying for as it is

If it was a dealer error, i dont see how they could NOT pay for it. They have to. I would be quite unsatidfied if i got a single option differently than i ordered it. Thats absolutely ridiculous. Work it out with them though, have them pay you like 350 so you can get an aftermarket dash kit or have them compensate in some way for the mistake they made. Maybe free oil changes for a year etc. BTW, how does the charcoal look?

dang it, that looks so nice, i should have go that...totally missed it
i think it depend on the color though, i think it would look great with the white, silver, tungsten, dark red, vista blue, and black
i think silver is really nice for the "bright" colors, like red, and yellow. also i think it would look good with the silver

Think about this, keep what you have, get $$$$ back from the dealer, and consider the "aftermarket aluminum lower dash kit" I'm thinkin' the contrast would look awesome, and you would have a truley 1of a kind interior.
What do you think ????
