Default Here's how you want to launch...

So many threads/questions about launching - I wanted to show you guys how important the launch is. This is a quick clip from one of my races last week where I killed a much faster Chevy by smoking him off the line. This was a trailer race car that has lot's more HP than me but as you can see, HP doesn't mean squat if you can't get your launches down...

TY - I wouldn't race without DR's and I'm soon going with a full slick and honestly, although I cut a good light, he was reading the paper cause I caught him sleeping but that's the point. That car should have smoked me and I win lot's of races off the line. Remember - 90% of drag racing is won or lost in the first 60' so that's why I posted this. If you work on your launching, and get that down, you can beat cars much faster on paper than you.

AHHHHH, you would think so??? Can't tell you how many questions I get about making HP and damn near get ignored when I start talking about hooking it up and reaction times....lol Seems many think HP will alone will make you fast and I posted this for them.

And you know what I'm going to say anyway, young skywalker... Practice, practice, practice! oh - and get some rubber, gears, & suspension too...

I had a post about this ... what tires should I go for ..?? street slick's..?? as the car will see the street 99.9% of the time.. but with my new 4.10 gears.. and I take traction control off.. I just spin away.. and rubber is not cheap..lol.. so what should I go with as far as a new set of rear tires..??

thanks in advance..

Be realistic with your racing plans. What I mean by that is ask yourself honestly how often you plan on racing at a track? If it's once or twice a year or so then who cares if you spin and just have a good time and just go with your street tires. If you catch the racing bug and decide you are going to go often then invest in the cheapest rims you can find for now and put your DR's on those and get yourself an aluminum floor jack and change your tires at the track. Don't use the DR's for anything other than when your at the track and you'll get 100 passes on them that way and your moneys worth. I personally think it is silly for people to drive around on DR's on the street. I also think it is silly to buy nittos, BFG's and all the other DR's that are the same exact rubber as street tires. You're basically paying for less tread and you can get that for free on an old set of cheap tires...lol

The only DR's worth a crap are the MT ET streets and that's because they are the same rubber compound as slicks. But also for that reason, they won't last for crap driving them on the street. There's a reason 99% of street racing is from a roll - spinning from the jump on street tires with HP and gears just goes with the terrority. Whatever your set-up - you can always get better by practicing your driving skills. People laugh and say I've been a good driver forever but racing skills and daily driving skills are two different things. There is no class or teacher that can teach you - it just takes practice and experience and you need to get to where you know what your car is going to do and handle in every single gear and at every rpm. But getting to know your car is the fun part anyway IMO...

Only ricers race from a roll... I also have to disagree with you on the BFG radials... I cut a 1.87 with them on stock suspension, and I know lots of guys going into the 10's and 9's on them... I agree the Mt's are better, but don't put BFG's and Nittos out of the running, they are decent tires...
