Regarding Hood Pins

RE: Regarding Hood Pins
Just some quick tips for you -
If you are using your stock hood, get the hood pins without the wire like PullMeOverRed. Sure, they may not be as cool, but you'll be kicking yourself in the butt very soon when your paint starts chipping and scratching from the wires. Wired hood pins = bad for stock hood.
Use the wires with an aftermarket fibergalss hood.

I want some, because the car needs them and they look good. SO
1. What are some of the popular brands.
2. Which ones DO NOT rust.
3. Is there anything "Mustang specific" about buying a set of pins? I wouldn't think so, but who knows?
4. Any reason not to get aluminum?

RE: Regarding Hood Pins
Anything over 120 and I start to worry about it. I don't know if there's really any danger of the hood opening up, but at those speeds it would be bad if it did. Not as bad as crossing the streams, but bad. I know those pins would make me feel better about the whole situation if nothing else. Whatever, even if the car doesn't NEED them, she wants them because they look bad-a**.

i figured that had more to do with it. in that case go for it, but I do think the wires look the best. have them coated in clear plasic and u wont have to worry about chipping ur paint. hell, u can even tgo to ace hardware and buy the small gauge aircraft cable already coated and just buy the crimpers. < $10

RE: Regarding Hood Pins
OK hood flexing at high speeds. I read in a thread that there are 4 rubber stops that when you close hood these support it from the underside. The problem is they are not adjusted right at the factory. It said to put a little tooth paste on the top of them close hood then reopen and see if they are hitting (will leave tooth paste marks on underside of hood). If not adjust upwards.
