3.73s or 4.10s?
I have a manual and want to put in gears and a t-loc, i started a post earlier, but i want to know what every ones opinion is regarding 3.73s vs 4.10s. I have read earlier threads and theres seems to be conflicting opinions. I know their is a trade off between the 2....lower RPMs less gas consumption with the 3.73s vs better launch but decreased gas mileage and higher rpms with the 4.10s. My car is a daily driver, and i log in a lot of highway miles on the weekends. I started off thinking the 3.73s would be better in the long run( better fuel economy, less wear on the engine), but maybe they are a little too conservative, should i just go for the 4.10s?

RE: 3.73s or 4.10s?
I am currently getting better mileage with the 4.10s, though I haven't even been through a whole tank with them. What's happening for me is that the car pulls better so I can shift sooner and maintain my desired acceleration. Before I had to wind it to 3000, now I can shift at 2500 and I don't miss a thing.
With my last car the shift points ended up just about right on the speed limits, ie, 25, 35, 45, 55. The 4.10s now give that trait to the Mustang, which I like. As an example I can shift to 3rd at 35, cruise at a reasonable rpm, and still drop speed without needing to downshift, 'cos it'll still pull just fine at 25mph.
This is in a GT, but according to my math, you would see very similar results on the V6.
