So It's raining and I go to take out the garbage. I give my car the usual loving gaze and to my horror see a blaringly noticeable orange rust film all over the rotors through the spokes of the 18" Bullits. WTF??? Is this normal?
It's bare metal with high iron content, the rotors are going to rust.
Sonic - What do you mean your calipers are discolored? Aluminum oxidizes also.
True, but I don't know if I have ever noticed rotors get a flash rust on them as quickly as these do. Mine have gotten like this in less than a half hour
mine turn rusty before i can finish drying my car...
Same here. It's normal though and as SonicStanGirl said, it comes off as soon as the brakes are used.
But I agree, this doesn't happen to my F-150, at least not as fast.
I reacted the same way when I first saw this on my old 2004 GT vert. It went away after i drove it so I don't worry about it now on the 06. Don't know if where you live makes a difference - I live in South Florida.
