Default Trailer Hitches

I have had my GT for about three weeks. I tried to use this forum before the purchase to determine what was available in the way of trailer hitches so I could carry a couple of bicycles. No Ford hitch is available. I found no concrete solutions at that time, but did see a bunch of flame mail about how putting on a hitch was sacrilegious! OK, OK, so that may be what some think, but for those who are thinking of doing the same thing, even U-Haul can get you set up, but I did not go that route because I wanted it installed and did not quite trust the quality of the work. If you go with U-Haul for the hitch itself, note that on-line the only thing listed was for a "Mustang" and is #24728, but by calling locally I found out (check this!) there is a U-Haul hitch # 24747 for the 05-06 GT at $120. I ended up going to a reputable shop in Seattle and they set me up with a Hidden Hitch brand. This is a Class 1 hitch (2000 lb. towing load, 200 lb. vertical tongue load w/ 1 1/4" receiver), which is sufficient for a couple of bikes in my opinion. Note the GT officially has only 1000 lb. towing capacity. I trust everyone will agree from the picture that the hitch is quite unobtrusive. Happy biking!

You should be shot. If you wanted to carry bicycles around... you should have got an SUV. What's wrong with you?

scolded or flamed maybe, but shot is a little harsh dontcha think?
i am 100% completely against such a mod, but its YOUR car to do what YOU want. i have a few friends that bike competetively, and i can totally understand the need to take bikes around once in a while, but i hope you dont drive like that very often cuz you will not get good public responses

I considered a hitch for mine, because I wanted to drive it up to the cabin with the wife and kids, and all the related gear.

I decided to leave the kids.....
