Blackfoot, you are in Canada right? Most of the USA is radar detector legal. The only problem I ever had with a detector is that most of the time a cop will give some leeway with a ticket. Say you are doing 85 in a 55, the cop will cut it down to say 65 in a 55 if you are nice. Once they see the detector they are ready to search the car for drugs with a dog. Happened to me. good thing I left the drugs at home that day...LOL

Hrm.. you need to know your rights. Even though the cop brings a K9, he can't search your car without a warrant. If he brought his "X-ray inviso-machine" and sees a skeleton in the trunk, he still needs a warrant to bust it open (joke). Whatever's not in plain view, the cop cannot touch. Of course, if you don't let them look at your trunk, they can hold you for a "reasonable" amount of time so they can ****** a warrant...

When I got pulled over the other day, the cop was delighted to see my glove dept. wide open and flashed his light around. I didn't do it intentionally, but I guess he saw that I had nothing to hide. Long story short, I got out of the jam with a warning.
