Default P.I.E. AUx input adapter

My P.I.E. Aux input adapter just blew on me, after just 2-3 weeks of installing it!

I just ordered a new one but my question is how should it be hooked up.?

I hooked up the original to "..a constant 12V source..." as per the directions. The closest source was the cigarette lighter power line. But I'm thinking because it is powered all the time, even with the car off this may have made it blow so soon.

To those with the adapter, how do you have it hooked up? It would seem logical to power it from the +12V source of the radio so it's only powered when you need it.. If so, does anyone know the color of the +12V wire to the shaker 500 unit?

Thanks!!

One install manual I found for the adapter... I don't own one yet but it seems you have the wiring correct. I'd assume just use a scotchlok wire tap and tap into the constant 12V and ground leads going into the stereo.

Might be wise to visit PIE's website and call/email them and ask if it's necessary to tap into constant. Thing is I'm not certain how switched power works with this stereo, considering it'll continue to run with the key removed for 10 minutes.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

I would be interested to learn about what you find out. I went and bought the monster iPlay and within 2 hours I returned it because I could not get a good signal no matter which frequency I tried. I would like to go with the PIE set up but I don't want that to not work right too.

Yeah, Ill try to call P.I.E.

Funny thing, I think I heard the unit blow when I was uploading Evolution Performance's 93 tune into my car.

It worked fine pior to that.
