Default Blinker Question??

Ok i have a question as to how the blinkers on the 05-06 work.
There are three bulbs on each tail lamp A Left Bulb a Middle Bulb and a Right Bulb
So yesterday i go for a drive and I turn the right turn signal on and it blinks really fast. Like cars do when there is a burnt bulb. I then check the left and it blinks normal. So i get out and turn the right side turn signal on and the Middle and Right bulb are blinking but very fast. I then turn the left side blinker on and all three bulbs blink but normal speed. So i would like to know how everyones taillights work. Of course i take it into the dealership and they check it out today and they are now working fine. Well on Tuesday i went to the grocery store and when i started the car all the warning light stayed on and the power window's and door locks would not work not even with the remote key fob. So i turned the car off and the dash warning lights stayed on. I then opened the trunk with the key and shut it and then re started the car and everything worked perfect. So then the incident form yesterday with the blinkers happens. So i need to know how everyones blinkers and light work for the taillamps. this include when the headlights are turn on and off both.
Something in my gut tells me I have a big electrical bug in this car and I am going to have to document it all.

Thanks,
Richard

Usually when one side of the car blinks faster then the other, that means there is a blown bulb on the faster side. Since you said the side that blinks faster only has 2 blinker bulbs going on, it is probaly the third that is out. Try replacing the bulb first and see if that fixes the problem.

sounds like there is a short somewhere in the lamp circuit.Probably a pinched wire in the wiring harness. They will have to trace it down. Electrical problems are a stinker to diagnose ,but, any mechanic with an ounce of skill and an ohm-meter can find it.

Yes i completely understand this. And in fact am a service manager at a auto repair shop and have been working on cars for over 20+ years and have already tried and tested the bulbs they were fine. I also traced down the power to the lights and something is not right. I need to know what lights come on and at what times. Hence the question. I am not looking for a diagnostic. Simply looking to find out what taillight bulbs come on and under what circumstances.

Thanks anyway though for trying to help.

When you use the blinkers, normally only the 2 lateral lights flash. The inner one does not.(meaning the one that is on the leftmost of the right blinker)

Thats right, but when you add the mandatory sequentials kit, all three will strobe . Anyway, your tip off is when you said that all three flashed on the left side. That sides forked up. However, the right side should not flash real fast, either. Time to get it back to the dealer. Thats what warrantees are for.

Exactly and I took it directly to the dealer when this happened yesterday and of course when they checked it today all is functioning perfectly well. I simply needed to know for myself what bulbs work when. The things that is really screwy is that although all three bulbs flashed when i turned on the left blinker. It flashed at the normal speed and it was the right turn signal that flashed fast even though it was apparently working correctly.

Well got the car back from the dealership and it turns out my Smart Box is bad. Guess it isn't so smart after all. They also scratched my dash just above the glove box while replacing the IUP parts that the factory screwed up. So i told them to get me a new piece. Only;y problem with that is that small piece is part of the entire dash. So needless to say i am not letting them replace the entire dash but will instead let them repair it. It is more of a scuff than a gouge so it should be ok.

I just saw this thread and was going to recommend them checking the smart moduale. Had mine replaced when they found the trunk light bulb was okay but it wasn't lighting up anyway. They replaced the smart moduale and now oddly I have running lights that I didnt' have before! Check and see if you have running lights now. If you have the parking brake on you won't see them turned on. Once that is released they come on. I'm the only 05 Mustang in the area with running lights! I found out too that the number on the moduale has changed, its not the same as the original. Even had my service manager checking and rechecking to see if it was the right part. I guess they updated it and changed the part number at the same time. Pretty sad a part like that has to be replaced to make a light bulb work! I wonder how expensive they are and how much they will be when the car is out of warrenty and another light bulb goes bad and its really the smart moduale???
