First off.. it is BAD TO race on the streets and I am not for it.. but I at first was just going to look at a 03 Mustang going up against a ( I don't know what year corvette.. 04 maybe..?? )

anyway we where out where there was basically no traffic (Cross county Highway for you Cincy people) and I was just going to watch a 03 Mustang GT take on the Vet.. then all of a sudden they seen me and I get the invite.. (arm waves)

so I think OK.. maybe I can keep up with the other stang .. but that Vet is going to eat us up..

nope.. as MANY HAVE SAID BEFORE.. it is all in the take off.. they both went up in smoke (their tires that is, at the take off) and I am looking in my rear view mirror and can't believe I am beating a Vet..

long story short.. I beet two cars at once.. ( we even done it two times ) the other stang pulled over and we talked after the races but the Vet. guy gave us the finger and drove away.. me and the other stang guy shot the bull for a little while .. and laughed about the Vet. guy being such a sore loser... he talked about my car and I talked about his.. he does have a nice car.. ( yes I told him why I thought he lost)

they both had manual trans and I have a auto .. that is where I think I got them.. plus the fact I have been practicing .. ( had the 4.10's and they where to much and went with the 3.73's that I have now )

so there you have it .. another story about "the take off" and how important it is..
just for the record .. I shut it down at 85 MPH.. speed limit 60 MPH..
I am sure they would both have gotten me if I was to go up to 100 MPH or more.. but that is FOR THE TRACK and not the street.. AGAIN not saying the street is a good place to race as it is not.. but at that time of day and with the lack of traffic and I just couldn't resist.. lol


long live the ( lock up as fast as you can ) on take off.. or you are going to lose almost every time..

Good race and nice kills, the Vette guy is just a sore loser, he shouldn't race if he can't take the loss!
I've got 4.10s on my automatic now and after a day of "playing" with them last Thursday I have a lot of pacticing to do so I can get the launches down. I think I'm going to have to take it easy on the launches instead of just flooring it. I'm having second thoughts about going to track and racing with the stock tires and the 4.10s!

With my Roush charger, A/T and Roush wheels and tires, if I just stand on it from a dead stop, I get a couple of seconds of wheel spin with a slight fish tail (stock rear end). To get the best launch, is it best to completely try to eliminate wheel spin with a little less foot?

The tires are Cooper 275's x 18. My gut tells me I should at least eliminate the fishtailing, but spin the tires just a bit.

I don't ever make it to the track so it's kinda hard to confirm my 0-60's in practice.

my guess was a 04 might have been a 06 I don't know.???. I do know it was not a older Vet..

yes try your best to have as little as possible of wheel spin.. again the resean I think I beat these 2 cars.. as they where spinning their wheels I was going down the road..

yes I did spin some.. but not as much as they both did..

Great kills! And yes, traction is everything. That is how I was able to take out a fox body with a stroked, supercharged 302.

Thanks for the advice Rex7010. What I really need now is the 3.73's like you have, but Mr Roush is not too keen letting me keep his warranty, even if I buy the gears from him.
