Default No Remote Trunk Release Button?

It seems that the only way to remotely release the trunk lid (ie, while in the car) is with the key fob on my 06 GT. Most cars have a release button on the door somewhere, but I don't see one. It's a little annoying to fiddle with the key fob instead of pushing a button on the door, but no big deal. Just wondering.

I was a little more irritated with the fact there is no remote fuel door release. But I guess those are a few of the things you give up when you drive a car like this and still not spend 30 grand.

Just buy another key fob for 30 bucks, and put it somewhere that most car thieves wouldn't look (heck you could velcro it inside your console somehow). You might be able to even tear out the buttons that shut off the alarm if you have one, so that if the thief ever does find it, he will have more trouble turning it off.

That pissed me off too, initially. Then it occured to me that there's a good reason behind it you know and I think it has little to do with the cost of the car Form the outset Ford claimed to have convertible design in mind, that could partially explain lack of the lever/button for the trunk. If remote trunk lid release is accessible and the top is down - what's to prevent someone from just leaning into the car, popping the trunk open and walk away with your goodies (like dirty socks ) from the trunk. Place the lever/button in the glove compartment some say - but then you'd have to remember to keep it locked all the time, not too many people do that.

That being said - no reason why couldn't have added it into the coupe versions. Maybe that's where the money thing comes in. That and the use of the electrical tape around all the major wiring harnesses in the car (instead of the hard sleeving/tubing you'd typically see)...

My other problem with no remote trunk access was this - what if I leaned in, keys fell into the trunk and I closed the damn thing? SOL! I decided to just go ahead and buy one of those remote keypads (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=3138). That way, even if you're locked out, you could always enter the code and open the doors or the trunk.

I did that. Luckily, I was at the house and had my spare keys on top of the fridge.

Wait, do we mean remote as in the keyless entry remote, or actually inside the car? If it is the keyless entry then mine has remote trunk access. Has since I got it at the dealership. Mine is a 06 though, maybe they added remote access to my model.

We were talking about something (lever, switch, etc) being part of the car, not the remote key fob that's "attached" to the car keys.
