i'm positive it isn't injector noise, its distintive after a quick rev in between 2000-3500 then it goes away after higher rpm. it seems to be coming from the cam timing chain area. louder and sometimes more audible when the oil cap off.
it sounds to me like you have a cam phaser problem it is used for the VCT (variable cam timing) a lot of new vehicles seem to be having this issue it is a TSB from ford for the F-150's dont know about the stangs, fords still new at the addition of VCT not enough experience to perfect yet. but i would bring it to the dealer i work for a ford dealer and am a tech so thats why i know all this any lights???? even if no i would let someone look at it. ANYWAY that just a GUESS cant tell unless im there but in reguards i hope im wrong..
Maybe you have a leak coming from your headers? I've heard it now that I think about it during warm up idle but only in the cold. I haven't heard it lately. But then again I'm never around to enjoy my baby.
