Default My speeding ticket pic

Got a letter in the mail the other day....turns out I was doing about 11 over the speed limit in our nation's capital. I guess they use those horizontal lines on the side of the road to tag how fast your car is going. (Of course I did not know that at the time). On the bright side, it was only $50, and did not go on my record, which is the case for all camera tickets in DC, to my knowledge.

That stinks. Glad it was only $50 and no points. Sweet ride though.

Wait a second, if those tickets will never go on your record, how they truly enforce them. If they can't go on your record then I don't see how they could actually give any type of penalty for not paying them. Is theis their way to avoid the "confront your accuser in court" issue that all these photo enforcement things have been having a problem with? Also, where were you when you got this ticket so I can mkae sure to pay more attention in that area hehe.

It is usually a civil judgement placed on your registration. No pay = no registration. Then they get you for expired tags...etc etc. It's BS in my opinion. Doesn't allow you to have your day in court.

Yeah you could be right about that, the letter was in the tone of "just pay this and we'll forget about it." I didn't care so much because the extra insurance premiums would dwarf any ticket fines I would have gotten. From what I hear, they keep pretty heavy records on calibrations and stuff for just that reason, so contesting it in court would probably be fruitless.

BTW, it was 3rd street tunnel @ Massachusetts ave.

The only thing George Orwell got wrong was the year!

THAT is why those new plate covers that won't allow your plates to be photographed are a HOT item today.

Here in Missouri, they just started that at construction sites, and some local towns are implimenting them at intersections taking photos of red light runners.
