Default Finally got car on jack stands. Please help

I finally got this thing up on jack stands to try and check what might be causing my car to have a drone at about 80 to 85 mph. Just a constant wuh, wuh, wuh ( i don't have a clue how to spell what I'm hearing, so bear with me) also when I accelerate at that speed my shifter chatters along consistantly with the droning noise. I have an aftermarket shifter that was in the car when I bought it. Do you think whoever put the shifter in took out the drive shaft to install the shifter and didn't reinstall it correctly? If so how would I go about checking it? Any help would be great.

My stock shifter does the same when passing through about 2500 rpm when decellerating, lots of noise and vibration.

A lot of axlebacks will give you the drone. 99% that is where it is coming from. Lots of posts about it.

I wasn't very clear on my description about the car droning. It's definitly a vibration not just the exhaust note. You can feel it and hear it but only at 80 + mph. The car constantly surges or vibrates at that speed and when you accelerate hard or even moderatly hard from 80-85 mph the vibration/surge rattles the shifter with every cycle. Hard to explain without being able to hear it. I think I'll just take it in and see what the dealer says. As far as exhaust drone which you guys are reffering to, Iv'e got Steeda axle backs which sound killer. Good tone, not too loud but definitly not stock sounding. So, possible drive shaft?

My JBA's only drone on a cold startup, but once the pipes heat up, the drone stops completely.

It sounds like it might be flat spots in your tires, but it's hard to decifer a noise problem over the internet

It is definitly hard to decifer noises over the internet 93blackNotch, but I don't think its tires either. I really tink it's in the driveline somewhere. I thought I remembered a post about someone having to get three new drive shafts installed before they cured his vibration problem but I can't find the post [:@] [:@] Anyway, I'll keep searching
