Default CDC Shaker Hood Scoop

I was looking at the Shaker Hood scoop, but upon reading the details it says it uses the factory airbox, and that's where I got lost. So, I take it it's not a "real" scoop that goes directly to the throttle body ??? I don't know to much about scoops but If i get one I don't want some fake stick on one. Also how do these work in the rain and stuff as far as water ingestion. Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm still learnin here[&:]

Water ingestion should not be a problem.

It pipes into the stock box from behind so it does force air in.

its functional, it just hasa "scoop" going from the shaker unit to the bottom half of the factory air box. You wont ever see one thast goes directly into the throttle body...as it wouldnt make much difference over this kind

Cain... I have the CDC Shaker. Its great. I wouldn't worry about water ingestion.

The upper rear of the scoop has a duct that winds its way down to the lower portion of the airbox. The couple of twists made by the plumbing and the fact that the duct is introduced at the lower portion of the air box (in the same relative position that the stock air intake is located) should eliminate the chance of any water ingestion.

Just a word of caution, you will not really see any performance gains with this ( You will get a little better gas mileage and some slight throttle response above 40mph) but this mod is all about esthetics.

So the Shaker wont give similar gains to other Cold air Intakes? I was planning on going with the shaker but if it doesnt give similar gains I will have to pass on it.

Well If it's not going to make a difference Performance wise It doesnt make to much sense to me. The only real cool thing I like on it is the fact that when you romp on it the scoop moves along with the engine, which to me alwys looked sweet.
