Default Bigger tires...slower ?

On order Nittos 555, 295/45/18 rear and 255/45/18 front...Just wondering if the new tires will effect the off line performance?..will the car be more sluggish ? Also will my gas mileage drop?

yep, it'll be slower. Simple physics. Its a larger mass and it will take more power and time to make it move than something smaller. Probably not very noticable though

Becuase those tires are 1" taller than stock you will probably lose a bit of power, but you'll have a lot more traction.

Slighty higher top end speed though since it changes your overall gear ratio. Not a huge difference though.

It would help slightly if you went with 35 series tires instead of 45's

Itll also have a little bit worse gas milage because of the wider tires. Theres more rolling resistance, so obvoiusly itll take more power to move em.

Ive got a set of ASA 18x9 with 255s up front and 285's out back. Right much weight there and I can feel it. BUT, the trade of is that the car handles soooooo much better.

I just put that same setup on my stang. The speedo is off a little. I'll have to reprogram the sct tune. Then next mod will be 4.10 or 4.30 gears. I love the stance of the tires. Next I'll have to ge a digital camera to take pics. But the mods come first.[sm=gears.gif]

I found this site useful especially for figuring out revolution per mile.
