Shift Lights
Hey guys and girls... I'm looking for shift lights. I am not sure what to look for but the ones I've seen are usually just one light that lights up and then goes off until the next time you have to shift.
I am interested in one looks aesthetically pleasing and I won't have to guess where to place it. I've seen on some web sites shift lights that go between the two pods and there are actually 4-5 lights that light up from left to right and the right being the point to shift.... is this confiusing?

All shift lights work the same--you set a RPM (via pill, dial, whatever) and it lights at that RPM. I bought the one from Raptor and I'm very satisfied with it. Small, bright (blue in my case), does not need an electronic tach signal generator, and easy to install.

I got mine direct from FORD,............................................. .................................................. ..............................................
it's called a T-A-C-H-O-M-E-T-E-R (eyeballs not included)

There are a couple of others out there but I liked the Raptor best.
There is one that had a few leds that light up progressively as you approach your shift point, it even had a remote display unit that you could mount in your helmet that had a very high Bond factor but that set up was expensive and it looked like it was going to be a real bi*ch to install.
I'm going to try and do mine this weekend. I want to do a little custom wiring so I can remove the light when I don't need it, which is really only on wednesdays
The only thing I need to figure out is from where I will get 12v power and I'll have to stop by Radio Shack for some shrink tubing but it should be pretty easy.
Why don't you hold off purchasing until then and next time we hook up you can check it out my set-up and see if you like it.

You'l have to forgive me for not being a professional drag-racer but I found had a little trouble shifting at the right points on track night. I think the shift light will help.
With the combination of the helmet and the noise from the car in the next lane I couldn't hear all that well and I wanted to concentrate on making my run and keeping the car off the guardrails. I'd rather keep my eyes on the strip and off my tach, not that I really want to be processing numerical data at those speeds anyway. I'm looking for something more like "BLUE MEANS SHIFT!"
