Default sound deadening

OK, i did a search and have found some useful info. but does anyone have any tips that has done there car already? i started today on my trunk and used over 30 sq ft. and im not done with it yet. the part im concerned about is with the moisture barrier on the doors, i dont want to eliminate it but it seems to me that it was glued on? what have you guys done? so far im really happy with the results of just the trunk, and cant wait to get the doors done. someday i will do the floor boards as well.

What should be the point of doing all of this?

Don't know about that. I have FatMat Extreme in mine and am quite pleased.

Im using Edead V1 in the trunk and will be using V1se2 in the doors and rear deck. i think dynamat is overpriced and there are a lot of other options out there. the point of it is to both keep out road noise and keep the tunes from the sound system in.

Well Dave, I wish I could offer some tips but sounds like we have done about the same amount of work. I "wallpapered" my trunk a couple of weeks ago, and also did under the rear seats up to the carpet. I still need to gut the interior and do the floor pan, firewall, and would also like to do the doors. Just haven't had the time. And I think I probably used about the same amount on the trunk that you did. I did everything but the trunk lid. I bought two 50 sqft rolls, and have used almost one complete roll on the trunk and under the rear seats.

the trunk lid is where i need to do more work, i tried to get it to look a little better than the rest of the stuff that is all hidden and it takes a lot longer. did you take the rear seats out? i just folded mine forward and did what i could. if they arent hard to take out i might do that as well.

I popped the bottom seat out to do under it. But as far as removing the backrests part from the car. Naw, didn't see any point in it. Kind of how I felt about the trunk lid also. I didn't do that because I didn't really see the point. There is not going to be that much road noise or exhaust noise coming in through the lid and that is what I am working on getting rid of. I really don't have that much concern about keeping the stereo quiet to the people around me. Hell, I put 1300 watts in there for a reason! I can say that I have COMPLETELY eliminated exhaust drone . But now I am hooked. Want to try to quieten down the tranny, maybe quieten down the blower a little bit. Thus the reason for wanting to do the floor pan and the firewall. As for the doors, i'm simply going to do them because I have heard from other people that they just sound more solid when you shut them. Makes it seem like it is a little higher quality so to speak.

I don't think doing the trunklid is gonna gain you anything as far as reducing cabin noise; might actually be worse (if you could measure db's in what would be miniscule at best). It won't look good either; IMO it shouldn't be done.

Yeah... me too Hawg. Used a 50ft roll in the trunk, sides, rear quarters and front doors. Still need to finish the floor pan and tunnel. The trunk lid seems to be a bit to conspicuous to layer it. I too am very pleased with the FatMat. I just used some additional adhesives when applying to the underside of the back deck, just in case.
Still have a full 50ft roll left to use on the floor.
