Scoche/MTX Enclosures
Just wondering if anyone has any comments about the MTX Thunderform and Scoche 05-06 Sub Enclosures... Anyone have any pics? Also, if you own one... Did you buy the bundled amplifier with the sub? Any comments would be appreciated

RE: Scoche/MTX Enclosures
I have the Scosche. Sounds 10 times better than the Skipper1000 subs did. Plus takes up less room. No, did not buy a bundled amp with it.
My only gripe is that Ford was too damn cheap to put trunk carpet under the Skipper1000 sub. So now I have a bare spot where the old sub box was.

Hawgman,
My scosche is on the way. 1) Where did you put the amp and 2)how did you wire it to your head unit/speakers?

RE: Scoche/MTX Enclosures
I gutted the skipper1000 system long ago. So wiring to the head unit was no problem.
If you wanted to keep the P.O.S. stock head unit you could just get an amp that had hi pass inputs and use those. There are also converters to go from power to passive that you could use.
Amp(s) are attached to the back seats. A pair of Kicker 650.4s. The last time I took pics of the setup it was sort of work in progress. I guess I need to update one of these days.

Nice pics hawgman,
Blind1595, I would suggest aginst a preloaded amp b/c if the amp goes or blows you're SOL.

Hey hawgman i like that amp setup.....how did you mount those amps to the back seat? i was afraid to drill into there because it felt like plastic and i thought it would crack if i used a drill.
also to blind1595, i have a single 12" in a qlogic box. pics are in my profile in case you are considering that kind of setup...still a decent amount of trunk space.

Drbobsvs,
Thanks for that bit on the built-in amp. Never thought about the amp burning out. Does that happen often? It would definitely suck if the amp blew out and had to replace the whole damn sub. Thanks for the pics everyone!

RE: Scoche/MTX Enclosures
I have the Scosche loaded with an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12" dvc sub. I installed an MTX amp that I mounted upside down under the rear package shelf between the rear deck speakers. That area will fit one decent size, 12" x 14" or so amp. I wired mine to the rear speakers (high level inputs), which with the MTX does not even need a turn on feed - just an 8 gauge to the battery. My head unit is a the stock Shaker 500.

RE: Scoche/MTX Enclosures
Yeah, I've heard of the built in amps not lasting too long. It kinda makes sense, I mean they're inside the box with not much ventilation and the woofer it right next to it shaking the hell out of it.
