Installed my UPD's today
I finally got around to installing my Steeda UDP set today. Pretty simple install except that they fail to mention that the water pump pulley will rub one of the studs from the front cover, so I had to cut the tip off of it for clearance. Seat of the pants says they added some power. It seems to rev faster and pulls a little harder. The next trip to the track will tell the tale. While I was in there I decided to go ahead and pull off the valve covers and painted them Redfire Metallic to match the car. Looks sharp! I used Dupont Imron so I wouldn't have any heat issues with the paint. I have used it on blocks before and it holds up well to the heat and oil etc. that ruins most paints after a while.
Did you have a bolt leftover? The hardware pack comes with a bolt to replace that stud. The instructions should show it. Evidently you got a kit missing parts. They usually reserve those for me.
Actually, no bolts or instructions came with it at all. I was kinda surprised. Oh well, I got it handled anyway. Guess it was my turn to get shortchanged. [:@]
I felt like the revs were faster and that the 1st to 2nd was quicker than before. I will know for sure at the track, but I would say they made a difference. The install took about an hour tops. I had good luck with the original lower pulley and balancer coming off easlly so that helped with it being a quick install.
