Here's a good one.
Gave my paint guy the D3 paint code, told him Torch Red. (He's had my louvers for a month, just gettin around to painting.) He calls me back, sez all the paint books he has lists FORD D3 as Colorado Red. I drove over to the shop, and saw it for myself.
WTF

 

That's what the paint shop told me as well. According to PPG paint guides, that is the color. I saw it matched to my "torch red" car as well. He kept my gas cap door for an exact match.

 

I ran into the same thing. I bought paint from two seperate suppliers selling two different high quality brands. (Dupont ChromaBase and R-M Diamont) I've painted several pieces on my car and in a shop with artifical lighting, you can see the difference.....and the Diamont came from the Ford body shop!

 

It is because Ford didn't change the color or the code, just the name. In 04 it was Colorado Red, in 05 it was Torch Red, and according to Fords on line paint code web page, in 06 it is called Colorado Red again.

When my midwestautogear.com mirror covers came in they were marked colorodo red as well. Hawgman has cracked the case.

 

I thought our Torch Red paint code was R13? Maybe I am wrong......

black clearcoat is Ford Ebony Black

 

WTF has Black got to do with it ?

 

My 2005 Mustang V6 Premium is Torch Red and the paint code is D3.
I just ran outside and checked the code.
