filling fuel tank problems
k so whenever i want to fill up my car, i have to either find a gas station that doesnt have the stupid rubber safety things on the nozzle, or i have to fill it up extremely slowly, if not it acts like my gas tank is completely full and wont let me put any gas in...does anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions, because i dont like spending 15 minutes filling up my car...
About 1 in 10 times or so filling up I have an issue with the gas cutting off before the tank is full. I just turn the nozzle upside down and the tank fills up the rest of the way with no problem at all.
Knowing these cars seem to have a gas fill issue i decided right from the get go to not let it fill in the normal fashion. I simply hold the nozzle at the 3 O Clock position and lock it on the first setting it fills completely every time this way. I also try to go to the same station and use the same nozzle every time. By the way i did one time try ot fill it normally and it kept kicking off. I also never let it get below 3/4 of a tank

After picking my car up the first two times I put gas in it gave me some trouble. Not real bad I just had to restart the pump a couple of times. I thought that I would be on my way back to the dealer to get it checked. Its been three months since I got the car and no more problems filling the tank.
The one thing of note is when it shuts off I cannot get any more gas to go in. In all my previous cars I could get at least another quart to two quarts in by clicking the trigger two or three more times. The Mustang will not let this happen. Once off its off. Time to pay and drive away.
There has been several discussions about this topic here just since I got my car so it does not appear that yours is unique. If it were mine I would take it back to the dealer to get it fixed.

There was a TSB on that, and I think they'll fix it under warranty. I've got an 06 built on 1/18 and it doesn't have that issue. In fact they may have gone too far the other way, because it will sometimes overflow slightly.

I have the problem any time I try to fill up normally. So by default I fill my tank with the nozzle upside down. It will automatically shut off when it is full, so you don't have to worry about spraying yourself with gas.
I am going to modify my fill tube one of these days to fix the venting problem.
I've only filled up my 2006 GT (3) times. Twice it overflowed and spilled gas, once it was ok. Never had this problem with my last car at the same station. I'll pay more attention at which pump I use, and hopefully I find one that doesn't overflow.
