Tires that hookup?
its an over done question, but i still havent been able to see any tires that i like. Nittos, Falkens, Toyos, BFgoodrich, Goodyear, nothing. they have to be all weather performers, but still hook up enough that im not burning through 1st gear. emphasis is more on wet/snow/dry traction, but still needs better charateristics than these crapola pirelli pzeros. just terrible tires. and tread life (minus burnouts) needs to be fair. any personal experience with likes / dislikes is appreciated. dont need suggestions, just what youve actually seen. no more IMO pretty please... ill assume if you say this tire hooked up well and lasted forever that you liked it and vice versa.
You know,
I really don't think you'll be satified with any one particular tire. What you looking for doesn't exist yet. The rubber compounds used to make a tire sticky in the dry will cause it to wear out fast and will not give you good traction in the cold b/c they will get too brittle. The longer lasting compounds will not stick as well in the dry. No one tire can do all things. If it could then manufacturers would only make one tire. This is why the high performance snow tire business has taken off so much. I mean, just look at the Tire Rack's selection!
You may not want to hear this but the seemingly non-compromising attitude of your post will necessitate 2 sets of dedicated season tires.
Also, you are in the minority regarding your opinion of the stock Pirellis. Most of the people here, myself included, who have posted in the past and most online tire wholesalers like the tire rack have excellent comments on these tires.

+2
Well, I put on a set of BFG KDWII's about 3000 miles ago and I love em. They gave me my first 60' time under 2 second at a 1.69. They ride nice and they seem to have little wear. They handle really well in the rain. So far I give them an A+. That 60ft time also includes quite a bit of suspension work that I had done prior to these tires that still only gave me really low 2 second launches.

+3 That is a lot to demand from one tire. I absolutely love the BFG g-Force KDW2 tires and have not been able to break the tires loose even when trying to. Your always going to have to sacrifice one area of a ties performance be it long life or wet traction or what have you.

+3 ..............I have pulled consistant 1.9 sec 60 foots on the stock pirreli's. I thought I might do better with the BFG sports but pretty much the same. Even though they were wider I had to settle on a lower profile which pretty much evened them up to the stock tires as far as launching is concerned. The BFG's are noticeably stickier in the corners however.

Musiccity, that is a great 60' time. What do you think the most important suspension mod for traction is? I have a boatload of wheel hop on my stock Pirellis half way through first gear (about the same time the boost gauge is +). I was thinking about the BFGs after I waste these tires.
"they have to be all weather performers, but still hook up enough that im not burning through 1st gear. emphasis is more on wet/snow/dry traction, but still needs better charateristics than these crapola pirelli pzeros"
the key there was still hook up ENOUGH that i dont spin through 1st. maybe its the roads i drive on, but those pzeros are just shameful. they handled fine in rain, but as far as dry traction, not impressive. there has to be something that holds up better. not saying i want drag radial grip and uni-direct cornering. but as well as pirellis work for you guys, there has to be something that works better all round than those. how many of you have actually kept your stock tires on?
