Do you feel it was worth the 1200 dollars for the stereo upgrade? Does it sound better than the 500 does? Is it worth it or could i get a better aftermarket system for 1200 dollars?

I don't think it's too much of an upgrade over the Shaker 500, but it is better. Any upgrade should have a DVD player or navigation system though

i think that the 07's have a GPS/DVD upgrade, so if the shaker 1000 comes with that, then it is worth it. if it is just the regular shaker 1000, i dont really think it's worth it, for that price you could get a much better aftermarket system installed

For 1200 dollars you could get an amazing stereo system, and you wouldn't run the risk of getting a shaker with the "remix" feature

If they do have a GPS/DVD upgrade, it is probably at least another grand, which makes it a $2500 P.O.S. instead of a $1500 P.O.S.

The shaker 1000 is better than the 500 and the "Stock' stereo. But is it $1200 better? HECK NO.

If you want to spend that kind of money on a stereo, get the basic one and then go aftermarket.

You might want to hit the search function, this has been discussed several times before. There is some good info in some of those older threads.

It is not a high fidelity system, I would go with after market.

The Shaker 1000 is the only upgrade I DIDN'T get on my 06 GT convertible. When I checked it and the 500 out at the dealer, the only thing I could tell that was a lot better on the 1000 was the very low-end bass response. I don't listen to that much rap, and the extra $$$ didn't seem worth it to me. I'm sure you could check them both out at a dealership.

The only difference in the 500 and 1000 are the two subs in the trunk that the 1000 has. Everything else is the same. Both systems could have used better highs and mids especially for the price of the upgrade. $1200 would get you an ok system not a great one but definitely better sounding than stock. $2000 will get you a great system.
