Default Clear Turns

Well for those of you that have the clear corners.... Congrats. You have something that none of the rest of us will be able to get according to Musclecar Direct.....

I just got off the phone with them wondering where my corners are, I ordered them back on 5/6/2006.

Their response was "They are on backorder and the DOT told the manufacture that they could make clear covers, but the reflectors had to be orange" So in other words, they will show orange thru them. [sm=wtf.gif]

Jegs is also out of stock until July, and I wouldn't be suprised if their new stock will also be the same way.

Muscle car direct said they would be contacting everybody who has an order outstanding and emailing them a picture of the new lights, and asking them if they still want to order them.

Here's to hoping we can take the clear cover off the new lights and put them on the old baskets..... Or maybe just disassble the new one, and silver spray paint over the orange...

What a freaking joke.

Clear lights are too "import tuner" anyway. Seems like they are old news (to me).
How many beat to sh&t cars do you see now-a-days where the most expensive thing on the car is some clear set of lights.

I think the clears look excellent. They really make things blend better on the front end of my Perf White '06. Of course, I don't consider my ride a POS, so that probably makes it okay to have them on there.

I must have gotten very lucky on the Jeg's order. They went on backorder on the same day I received mine. My MCD order had been in since the 9th of May and I cancelled it after receiving the Jeg's lenses.

No mention of the new changes when I talked to MCD a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately the clear turn signals have gotten the "rice" label on this forum, but I would have considered them down the road if I had a few extra bucks. Sucks the DOT has to pick on something stupid like that. Like you wouldn't be able to tell that it's a turn signal if it was clear?? How stupid can people be? (don't answer that)

This makes no sense..the DOT cant dictate to a company what they can and cant sell..thats BS..

There is plenty of off road stuff being sold..i dont get it...

I got mine off e-bay and they are like OEM perfect...55 bucks...yea baby...and they dont look rice...

IMO the Amber lense just stuck out like it didnt belong, now it blends very nicley...Thank me very much!

Actually, if they want to be "DOT approved" then I think they can dictate what they are like.

I recall there was a big crack down on HID light resellers and manufactures a while ago over something like this.

Of course, labeling them as "Off Road use only" would solve that issue.

Who knows, maybe it was just a story to get me off the phone, but if it's true, it sucks.

Ladies and Gents,

Clear lights are not "rice" they are European. The US DOT mandates laws for vehicles built and imported into the US. The orange/amber front and rear lights are present on all cars in North America. The ROW "rest of world" vehicles come standard with a different configuration which includes clear markers. The DOT also dictates the height of the bumpers (as well as many other things), for those of you who also enjoy European sports cars, you probably know that your Porsche 911 sets about 2 inches higher than the same vehicle outside of the US. So, if you want your P-car it to handle the way is was designed to, the 1st thing you do is scrap the US spec suspension and put a nice set of Bilstein coilovers on it.

Sorry for getting of topic, I like the clears on certain color vehicles. Peace!

Sorry dude. Timing is everything, I guess.

This change could be the reason that the clears are selling for so much (and so rarely) on Ebay.....?
