ORIGINAL: Furinox

I just looked on carmax for the heck of it and theres a 03 mach1 with 52k miles for 18k
If you're trying to save every penny and have a good car that seems to be a good deal
Yeah. That's not bad, but the miles are high for what I need. Gotta remember, I'm getting rid of something with under 10k miles on it for something else that I need to last 6 years.

Also, I drive about 25k-30k a year, if that helps put it in perspective. [&:]

A friend of mine says he knows someone who works at a dealer who is selling their Mach1 with low miles. I might check into that. I can possibly work out a trade since she works at a dealer, which would be excellent.

I also have the local dealer checking around for mustangs. He was going to try to find a new 05 on the lot leftover somewhere (good luck with that, I think) but a good used 05 around $22k would be awesome.

An 05, a nice 04 GT or a nice 03/04 Mach1 would make me happy. I think I need the V8 power, so I'm ruling out the V6.

Just as soon as I say that, I'll end up with a V6 somehow.

Patience is a virture. Wait another 6-12 months, get a used 05 GT and be done with it. Don't bother with a V6 because if you're unhappy with the Mazda 6 you'll be just as unhappy with the V6. If you get an 04 Gt you'll be kicking yourself in a few months when the 05 GT's drp in price again. Remember, cars depreciate up to 30-40% their first couple of years. Mustang is probably like 25-35% but still a big difference from a new one.

Default RE: 04 or 06 Mustang?

I've decided after a test drive that I'm going with an 06 V6 Mustang with manual transmission. The cost of the GT is way too high, and I'm going to get a V6 for around $20k. I need to trade my Mazda6, so I have some negative equity in there that needs to be accounted for as well.

I think all in all I would still get the V6. I was thinking about the 99-04 models, and how their V6 was lacking. Fortunately, I test drove the new V6, and was very impressed. Someone posted on here that I should just keep my Mazda if I look for the V6 Mustang, but I strongly dissagree. It's worlds better as far as power and speed than my Mazda6 4 cyl engine.

I want low monthly payments, so I'm going to get the V6 and mod it if I want. If I got the GT, my monthly payments would be too high to mod the vehicle (or to justify doing it anyway). Modding is part of the fun for me, so that's another reason I'm going to choose the 6. I feel like it is a very strong engine and that I'll be able to get it going as fast as I need it to.

Thanks for all the opinions. I just wanted to drop in on this thread and let everyone know how it was going. I'll post pics if (or when!) I get my V6. Hopefully it will be in the next couple of days as there's a local dealer helping me scope one out now.

+1 Wait and your car will come. Longer you wait the less you will owe and the cheaper the 05's will get. I hate to wait too, but it will be worth the wait. It's not like you don't have wheels now..

I would wait, but really, I like the V6. Trust me, it surprised me too. I've test driven a GTO, a Mustang GT, and the Mustang V6 and I'm going with the V6 because it fits everything well.

My dealer just got in a used 05 that might fit what I'm looking for. I'll probably go check it out today. Might leave with it, not sure yet.
