Default MM&FF GT500 test.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but if you pick up the new MM&FF you'll see that they ripped off a 12.25 at 115. Way lower e.t. than any of the other mag tests. I knew this car would live up to the shelby name. The author of the article said that 11's would be easy with 4.10's. Even with street tires. He also went on to say that with minor bolt on's he thought that 10's are acheivable.

I was hoping it would be closer to 120mph

Low 12's is pretty damn fast. What's the ET when you require a cage?

low 12s for a car that expensive? not to mention its not the greatest in the handling category...

sure its around 40k sticker but theyre gonna get marked up atleast 20k just for the limited avalibity and shelby badges. not worth it in my opinion, unless your super rich and enjoy throwing money out the window

For a straight line car that isnt a stellar handling car 40 grand would be appropriate. I am not sure if I would pay 40 for it, but that is another story. Problem is, every dealer I have been near is asking 60K.

I guess I should have jumped at the order contract offered to me for 5 grand over if I wanted one, but it rubs me the wrong way to pay over sticker for any car. But now I hear that same dealer is at 17.5K over on orders.

I'd pay $40k in a heartbeat, but not $60k.. For $60k i'd be investing in a Z06 and go to the dark side.

I would think with that trap speed 11s would be possible. But if I buy a 40k performance car it had better perform, not just in a straight line either.

I just read the article today, GREAT piece. The auther said in no-uncertain terms: with 4.10s, the Shelby would be an 11 second car. I know the debate is going to rage on until these cars hit the streets, so I figure I will cast my opinion now.

This is not a Shelby car. Yes, it has a Shelby badge, but this is a new SVT car. In my opinion, only cars that come from Shebly's shop can be considered true Shelbys. (The new V6 Mustang they make come to mind.)

But I don't give a RAT'S ***. Even if the badge on the car is wrong, it is still an amazing machine. Fastest production mustang ever built, 500hp, and a 12.25 time. Yeah, I want one. I know people are bitching about the handling. They're probably right, but mustang's have never been known as great handling cars. Nevermind it is a MUCH upgraded suspension over a stock GT. People bitch about the weight. Yeah, it's heavy, that is the only true complaint I have with the car.

Is the car worth $20,000 over sticker? Hell no. But I expect after the first year, you're going to see the price of this car plummet back to MSRP. MM&FF stated the car would be produced for 5 years at 8,000 units per year. I'm not sure I believe Ford will produce it for that long, but I hope they do. I plan on making a GT500 the next vehicle I purchase.

If you can get over the fact that this car is not a real Shelby, and just a SVT car, it truly is a fine piece of engineering.

If the same guy tested the stock C6, he would probably do 12.1 at 117mph.
Still I believe, that GT 500 is an obese pig.

No arguement from me on either point. I've read your previous posts and I know you don't like the new GT500.

IMO (And that's all it is, my opinion.), I think it's a phenominal car stock, and I would pay MSRP for one in a heartbeat.
