Default 2006/2007?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of buying a 2006 Mustang versus a 2007 one?

Is all current inventory 2006 cars?
Will dealerships be getting more 2006 cars?
Will there be a period where dealers have fewer vehicles during the changeover?
Will similar discounts still be negotiable on 2007 cars?

I'm buying a V6 with Pony Pack, manual gearbox, leather seats. The colors I am interested in are all being continued into 2007: Windveil, Vista, Black, Tungsten, White. I'm also planning on keeping it forever, so re-sale value isn't an issue.

Anyone who can answer or give advice, I'd be really grateful.

(It's so annoying that I can't get to the US until July 17th - a perfect 06 Vista Blue with dark charcoal interior just got sold by the closest dealer (after being in his inventory for weeks), and now there isn't another identical car in the whole state! Grrrr!)

A few small changes in 07, heated seats/homelink rearview/power passenger seat are all part of a comfort package. There will also be an AUX input jack added. Now if your looking into the pony package, and those things I mentioned early are of no issue and retail isnt either, get an 06. In 07 they are moving the ABS/TC off of the pony package so that will be additional if you wish to get that. I just got my 06 a few weeks ago and I love it and got a pretty good deal. Hope that helps.

It does help, massively. So the Pony Package will cost around the same amount but won't have ABS as part of it? That seems a little bit mean since ABS is pretty much a necessity on any car.

Do you think that, not being able to get to a dealer before July 17th, means I will have virtually no choice of cars?

No not at all. Check around at as many dealers as you can, get price quotes and have them show you the ones your interested in. You should find one you want for around 21k-22k out the door at that point after taxes/titles and everything.
