Default stupid plastic seat tilt lever...

so I go to drop the kids off at school today and while they are tilting the seat up using the rear adjuster, it breaks.. sigh... so - it's a cheapo plastic piece which snaps over a metal lever inside the seat. Does anyone know where I could find something a bit more substantial? I can always replace with the plastic - but would like something which isn't inclined to break again. I found these for the side adjuster - but couldn't find anything which would go on the rear of the seat. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Here are a couple of crap pictures taken with my camera phone which show what I'm talking about:

I broke one in my car when climbing out of the back seat after putting the car seat in. From Ford that little piece of plastic is $25.

My daughter was getting out of the back seat and broke the driver side lever. She was so scared to tell me. I call the dealer as car is only one month old and he said it wasn't the first one reported. I will eventually get over there to order a replacement, but I have not found any on the web as of yet.

I agree with you, I don't want to replace it with another plastic crap piece so it can break again.

Cheers

OK - so I'm not the only one - I can't believe they want $25.00 for that thing.... If anyone out there wants to make some, I'll be glad to test them for you!!!

You reminded me, I've got a buddy that is looking at making some stuff for these cars. He has access to a CNC so I will see if he is interested in making them.

Both of mine broke. The dealer covered them under the warranty. Are you having to pay for replacements?

I haven't tried and probably won't, for me its a 1 hr drive each way to the dealer plus time at the dealer and figure doing that twice because they probably don't have it in stock. But just assuming making the trip one time, that's $15 in gas and 3 hours of my time for a $25 part (or $30 and 6 hours), it's not worth it. I avoid the dealer at almost any cost.

I most likely wont try to get it covered under warranty unless something else happens - so far it's the only problem I've had so can't complain too much about the car.

both of mine have broke, they are both sitting in my cup holder to remind me to get them fixed, but i have not as of yet... if someone made a metal replacement, i would buy it in a heartbeat, as i would gladly pay $25 for something that wont break again over $25 for something that most definatley will
