We don't have any with the flex head feature in my shop. Can you use a deep well socket on header nuts and bolts or will it not fit.

The deep socket will definatley fit on some of the fasteners, but on others there isn't enough clearance. With the "dogbone" as you call them, you can get to every one with no problems.
