I would have to agree with the 500 mile theory. But then do you just put in normal oil and no synthetic or synblend oil to help with break-in?

For the first 500 miles I would warm the car up easily and the after the engine was at normal operating temp, I kept the tach moving. If I had to drive a constant speed, I would drive the car a few minutes in OD, D, and 3 and switch back and forth.

Once I got 100 miles on the car, with the engine fully warmed up, I started doing some near wide open throttle starts (helps seat the rings very good).

After 500 miles elapsed, I began driving it as I normally would drive. Never doing any WOT stuff until the engine was fully warmed--I do this even today!

At 3000 miles I changed the oil and filter with Motorcraft 5W-20 semisynthetic and a FL820A filter.

Doesn't use a drop of oil and runs like a racehorse! (pun intended!!)
