High Speed Crashes?

RE: High Speed Crashes?
I was involved in a rear end collision where I was running 65mph on the interstate & a uninsured motorist ran into me. He was probably going over 80. All I saw in the rear view mirror was 2 headlights coming out of no where. I braced myself and after the collision the car did not spin around. It just swerved a little. The guy that hit me was in a buick lesabre. His front end was damaged too much to run. It caused about $3,000 to my car. Sorry no pics. But the new mustang is a solid & safe car [sm=icon_rock.gif] that I am glad I drive every day.

RE: High Speed Crashes?
Mustangs in general hold up to accidents pretty well. I got rearended by a maxima a few years ago, the only damage to my car was to the bumper cover, there were 2 vertical scratches from the guy front license plate. The maximas front end was totally screwed, from what I could tell, it needed both headlights a grill, a hood, both fenders, and probably a core support too. And thats on a 85GT. He was probably goin around 30 or so when he hit me.
Another time, I had just purchased an '89 notch, well long story short the car wound up having brake failure, I ran into a culvert, popped the car up on the passenger side, tore off the left front fender, broke the rack, broke the rim, and literally bent the car like a boat, other than hittin my head on the window I sustained no injuries. Actually, I got hurt worse gettin out of the car than from the accident, when I was climbing out I burned myself on the exhaust, twice, and cut my leg on some jagged metal. When that happend I was haulin ***, Id estimate that I hit that culvert goin around 50/60, that was after I had tried to slow down by downshifting like crazy, like I was goin 70 in 2nd.
So at any rate, mustangs usually do well in collisions. Id still brace it up some more if I were you, every little bit helps.
