Default Power wire under dash

Anyone know of a power wire that I can use to tap my radar detector hardwire kit into that is under the driver's side dash?

Dude, just tap into the fuse panel in the passenger side kick panel. there are at least 2 empty slots and the one on the bottom is ignition switched.

I wish I could do that, unfortunately the hardwiring kit I have only came with a 3 foot long power wire and its not something that will splice very easily. It has one of those clamp clips on the end that you just tap into another wire without actually splicing it. Im gussing they were assuming you would tap into the radio power or something. I went looking up under the dash trying to find the wires that go into the radio. All I found was a bunch of neatly tied, huge bundles of wires running every which way.. nothing I could identify.

I'd find a way to splice some extra wire. This IS the best way to do it. I did, I used the switched hole with an add a circuit kit from AutoZone.

pull the head unit out, unplug it, and use a VOM or multimeter to find the switched power. it will read 12v only when the ignition is on. it *should* be blue with a white stripe...but i could be wrong on that
