Here is the power diagram for the radio, but I agree with the above. Make the radar detector wire longer and run it to a fuse box (same one at the top of this diagram). Then zip tie the wire up along the bottom of the dash.

Thanks BigDave, is that the fuse box in the passenger kick panel or the one under the hood in the engine bay? I would rather not have to run a wire to the engine bay box and just lift a fuse and press bare wire under it if I dont have to. I wanted it to look as professional as possible and keep it all out of site.

The SJB is supposed to be under the passenger kick panel, but I've never actually seen it myself.
Here are a couple of diagrams. I would tap off either the radio fuse or the fuse running to the trans shift selector (both 10A fuses). They are at the bottom of the diagrams. (F7 or F20)

Now since those are only 10 amp fuses that means I cant tap off of them right? Because the power wire I have has an inline 20 amp fuse on it so does that matter when it comes time to select a fuse to pull from?

Hey on that diagram sheet for the junction box, there are a few labeled "not used" on that list, technically couldnt I just run a wire up to that not used slot and then push in a 20 amp fuse and leave it at that?

I did not look that close, but yes you could use an unused slot. A 20 amp fuse for a radar detector? Talk about overkill! I doubt if the cop shooting the gun draws that kind of load...

Yeah actually I just got back inside, talk about good timing.. I tried to connect it under a 10 amp fuse in the junction box and no go, so I pulled a 20 amp fuse from the front box and ran the wire outside the car and tossed it under the 20.. sure enough.. soon as I pushed it in RD turned on.. so it seems I need a 20 for this to work and unfortunately the junction box in the passenger side only has 10's and 5's. About those unused slots. Do those slots have power running to them and theyre not feeding anything or are they dead? Im really just trying to figure out my options at this point.

Take a voltmeter to the prongs to see? Should have a hot side of the fuse slot and a downstream cold side.
I don't see on the wiring diagram where F9 and F13 are wired to anything. They may be hot through an incoming power trunk?
BTW, I replied to your PM
