Need Some Advice Please
Hey everyone, first time poster, long time lurker.
With all the information I learned from this forum let me first thank everyone for their help. I now have an opportunity to place an order for a 2007 GT Mustang.
I have dealt strictly via emails to 3 dealers, (no face-to-face). This morning I received a copy of the dealer invoice of the car I wish to purchase, and they are waiting for me to let them know to process the order. If I had to pay for the car today I would put about 7K down; however, if it takes 2 months for the car to get to the dealer I will have about 10K to put down. (I will have approx 5K with my trade-in and 5K cash.)
My questions are:
1. When should I let the dealer know I have a trade-in vehicle?
2. What is a realistic ETA if I placed an order this week?
3. Is there anything particular I should ask the dealer to do?
4. How many miles typically should a car have on it, if ordered from the factory, when I go to pick it up?
3? 11? 50?
5. Are people still getting their orders sold out from under them due to a higher "bidder" that walks onto the dealer lot the day your car comes in?
In regards to question 3, is there something I should make sure to tell the dealer in order to make sure my order is processed correctly? This maybe a stupid question but I know how dealerships in my area opperate. I remember a few months ago people were making sure they got a Priority 10 on their invoice so they weren't stuck waiting 6 months for their car. Is this something that needs to be done nowadays? Or has the market simmered down?
For question 4, I just want to make about mileage because I don't want my car to be "compromised" after some jerk from the dealership decides to break my new car in by doing a few laps around the lot before I come to pick it up.
Again thanks alot for the help you guys.
