Default 2006 Mustang, Gas Tank Problem

F.Y.I. - I OWN A 2006 MUSTANG AND WAS HAVING PROBLEMS PUMPING GAS INTO THE TANK. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO PUMP GAS INTO THE TANK, THE PUMP WOULD SHUT OFF. I ENDED UP TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEIR WERE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. SO IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE, YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE YOUR CAR BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY HAD TO MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT ON MY CAR AND NOW IT WORKS GREAT.

It's a well known problem, Cindy. My solution was to use the station a block away that cost the same but didn't cause any problems. For the 06s, it seems to have more to do with the pumps than the car. From what I hear, the 05s were bad with all pumps.

THAT MAY BE SO, BUT WHEN I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THEY HAD SEVERAL CARS BROUGHT BACK WITH THIS PROBLEM AND THEY HAD TO MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT. I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE THEY WERE LYING TO ME, BUT WHATEVER THEY DID, IT WORKED.

Not saying that you didn't get a repair, Cindy, just saying I'm not frustrated enough to go back to the dealer about it. I do need to go back about my rear end clutch pack though.

And PLEASE STOP SHOUTING!
Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not shouting.... It's just a habbit. I was getting frustrated because I went to several different gas stations and had the same problem. Anyway...It's fixed now. Hope everything works out with your car to.

Most likely all they did was either remove or punch a large hole into the metal strainer/anti syphon device in the filler neck.

No problems with mine, I just filled it up for the first time today. Got a whopping 15.8 mpg on the first tank.

Hahaha

So is the gas problem a defect or a Recall? Is it serious?

This is a common problem, there is a TSB on it. Use the search feature it is your friend.

No, It's not a serious problem. They had to make some kind of adjustment and now it works just fine. When I first bought my car, I didn't have any problems filling my tank. It was like the third or fouth time when it started acting up. But now it works like a charm. Just make sure when your filling your tank that the pump dont shut off before the tank is full. This is how I realized I had a problem.
