no no precausions make sure you wax it now
I had mine put on about two weeks ago and they told me 72 hours then treat it like you normally would have but make sure you wax it the next time you was it to make it shine and blend in with your paint better hope this helps

I tried a couple of different waxes on mine to see what worked best. I found I was getting some water spots from rain water, and they just weren't as shiney as the paint.
As far as tips, try to wipe on/off with the direction of the vinyl edge, and not against it. As far as wax, I found the Honda motorcycle wax works very well. It's a special formula designed to was paint, metal, plastic, plexiglass, basically most any part on a motorcycle, which explains why it works well on vinyl too.

Make sure you wax in the direction of the stripes, you can use whatever wax you use. The reason to go with the direction of the stripes is so the seams in the vinyl do not start cracking.

RE: Wash/waxing vinyl stripes
I had a vinyl graphic on my last car, had it on there for about 2 1/2 years, and never had any problem with it lifting, cracking, peeling. Just as long as you (or someone else) puts in on well, you shoudn't have any problems. I used an orbital buffer on my car many, many times as it was a show car, and it never hurt the vinyl. If you get the wax line along the outside of the vinyl, take some quick detailer, and the softest bristle toothbrush you can find, and it will take it right off.
