Default Console Removal - HELP!

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of removing the dash console that covers the stereo. It's easy enough to unplug the wire harnesses from the buttons on the console, the cigarette lighter, etc. The A/C control is a different story. Unlike the other connectors, this one appears to have a strain relief harness (a gray flap that comes down over the harness).

How can you unplug this without damaging the harness or the gray flap? I've tried using a screwdriver to pry it up, but I'm too concerned I'm going to break it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've had mine apart several times. I have only unplugged the A/C connector on the driver's side and then turn the entire panel to the right (and out of the way) with the other plugs still attached. You are right, these plugs are a mother to get off. After you take the two trim panels off from the sides of the radio & A/C cover, you can reach behind to get at the plugs. You can get the driver's plug off by pulling it off a bit, then taking a screwdriver blade between the connector and plug and twisting the blade to seperate them (gently). There is a squeeze latch, but I sure the hell can't get it to work...

lol, I've taken my dash/console out atleast 10 times. The grey clip on the ac plug has a small spot where you press down. The spot to press down on is right behing the grey flap, and the grey part will slip foward releasing the yellow harness.

Thanks guys, I'll have to take a look at that when I get a chance to tear apart the car again. It seemed like there had to be a simple solution.
