Would You Trade-In a S2000 on a 2007 Mustang
I am thinking of trading my 2005 S2000 with 4500 miles on it for a brand-new 2007 Mustang GT. The idea to trade in the S2K, interestingly enough, germinated when I bought a daily driver to complement the Honda.
I bought the Honda at the end of October and intended to use it as my daily driver. But after going through the winter with it (with the summer tires) here in DC I decided that it was too unsafe unless I got winter tires for it. But I also found it somewhat noisy and less than comfortable during the winter drives. That is when I decided I would buy a small car which got decent gas mileage to complement the S2000. I ended up buying a 2006 Corolla, which I really love for its comfort and reliability and frugality.
But the reason I chose the Honda in the first place was because it was the best sports car around 30k which also was reliable and got decent gas mileage. So my thinking now is, why not trade in the Honda and get a fast car that isn't necessarily the most reliable or the most frugal with gas. The Ford Mustang GT fits that bill! I would consider the Nissan 350Z or the Infiniti G35 but they would be out of my price range. I can get a GT for 25K, but couldn't touch either of the other 2 for less than 30.
I know the S2000 and Mustang are 2 totally different kinds of car (one is a pure sports car, the other more of a muscle/touring car). Would anybody on this board actually consider making this trade?

Thats not even a close decision in my book.
GT ALL THE WAY!! You will wonder why you ever bought the S2000 in the first place..

I have to tell you that I also have a S2K and a GT, and I wouldn't get rid of either of them. Like you already said, they are two different types of cars.
My question to you would be, are you looking for the more comfortable touring car, or do you want a sports car?
If you can answer that question, then that will tell you what car to get. From experience I can tell you that there are parts of the S2K that you will miss if you get the GT. But on the other hand there are things that you get with the GT that you don't have with the S2K.
It's your ultimate decision, but I certainly couldn't part with either of my cars.

2 reasons I would do the trade...
1. I am FORD forever... I will only buy a FORD product.
2. I have driven both and even been in a slightly modified s2000 and when you hear both in action the honda sounds like a pissed off weedwhacker and the Stang has a healthy growl.
I guess its all the kids with there 80hp civics who first mods are a tin can exhaust and a foolish rear wing that have ruined my impresions of anything with less then 8 cylinders.

I know I would trade in the S2K if I had one, but in the end it is your personal decision. People here can give you all the feedback they have on how much they love their new Mustang or in some of the quirks that annoy them about it, but I think you would be best to go take one for a test drive, or better yet...rent one for a day if you really want to get the full experience. At least then you have a bigger basis to judge your final decision on.

I would take the GT hands down. I'm not sure why you consider the GT less reliable, but I can tell you I took two Mustangs to the 112K mile mark on the ticker, and both of them drove like they had just come from the factory. If you take care of your car, your car takes care of you. Also, despite the S2000 being an "all out sports car", the GT is till quicker. Maybe the GT can't cut a corner as well, but it still tromps the S2000 for for 1320 feet.

S2000 is a wonderful car (I used to work for Honda). But when it comes down to it the stock suspension can be a little on the harsh side....especially if you daily drive it.
Starting with the GT you at least get the option of making your suspension as stiff as you want it.
heh

I would definetly trade it, i never really liked the look of the s2k. I've always been a huge fan of the Mustang, so personally, YES i would trade the S200 for the 07GT!!!!

ORIGINAL: Twister
a S2000 needs to be wound up above 6000 RPM to be in the powerband and has to be overdriven to turn well....it is not worth driving

It has a damn near perfect 50/50 weight distribution due to the motor sitting behind the front crossmember. So steering is very precise and its very easy to toss around. Perhaps you are just used to lugging around a heavy live axle car through turns.
