2007: Is the 3.55 worth it?

RE: 2007: Is the 3.55 worth it?
I'm not going to go mod crazy with it when I get it. The only mods I will probobly do is intake, exhaust, ecu tune, tb, udp. I doubt I'd ever change the rearend out, thats why I'll get the 3.55 now and not have to worry about upgrading. I still want to get somewhat good highway mileage so something as high as 4.10 is out of the question.

You will accelerate faster but not be able to reach as high of a speed. This really doesnt matter as you will never be able to top it out at its max speed anyway since our car is drag limited.
To sum it up... 3.55 > 3.31
Also, its a good deal for the 100 bucks because if you wait to get after market 3.55's or higher gears, you cant even get the gears for that much, let alone gears + install.

Both rear axle ratios are computer limited to 149mph because of tire ratings. The 3.55's should get you there slightly faster. I don't think either one will have any problem reaching this speed.

if you dont plan to change them out later, yeah! for 100 bucks that is definitly worth it!
if you plan to toss some 3.73s or 4.1s in there like 90% of the people here, just take the car like you have it now and put that 100 bucks in the "paying off tickets" fund

I dont see why anyone would want to go faster then 149, unless you are racing there is no need for it! I also guess if you want to go that fast you are doing alot of other mod's to the car to make it worthy of that speed.
When i just picked up my 2007 it has the 3.55 and it has some *****, now take it i have never owned a sports car and i am not "grease monkey" , so anything with a V8 is quick to me!

i HAVE HEARD THAT THE 3:90 gears are noisy.
How will you program Spanish Oak for the non-standard 3.90?
Everyone has options for 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, and 4.10 on their programmers.

Yeah most manual guys go to 4.10s though, unless you plan on supercharging, some guys complain of no traction with the 4.10s and a SC and usually step back down. I have an auto, I plan on going to 3.90s because I dont want 4.10s and I dont want one as low as 3.73. Lets just hope once I SC, I can still handle the 3.90s.

O really? Yeah see I havent talked to anyone about it.. Ill definately be getting peoples opinions before I commit to a buy... nothing worse than whiny gears. Ill try to get some insight from 3.90 owners when that time comes.. and Ill be sure to give Brent a call too.

Somebody asked this, but nobody addressed it: how does the 3.55 gear affect gas mileage? Does anyone know?
