Where in SC did you come from?

And I heard somewhere on these forums that it is actually illegal to replace your stock headlights to the xexon headlights. Dont know if its true though.

I could be way wrong here, but I thought someone told me onetime if you do the xenon hyper whites, you need to upgrade your stock harness because of the heat they emit. He told me it can melt the plastic in the base where you plug the bulb in ??

I'm a big fan of the Silverstars and have them on my truck and daily driver, but all the new Ford lights are a brand new bulb and the market has to catch up with replacement bulbs. I think the model is 9008...someone correct me if I'm wrong. And the last time I checked which was a few months ago there had not yet been a wide variety of aftermarket brands making that model....specifically the Silverstars which I will wait for as I have been 100% satisfied with the last 2 sets I have had.

They are not a xenon system, but Silverstars are a halogen bulb and as far as I know that is 100% legal.

Last I heard (2005), according to Sylvania, they have no plans to make an H13 (9008) Silverstar. Sorry guys.

Here is the latest I have found concerning H13 Silverstars:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Part H13, also known as 9008, is not currently available in a SilverStar upgrade. We have received many requests for this part in a SilverStar upgrade, but we were unable to develop this part in a SilverStar until just recently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote into the original specification for this part that the glass capsule portion of the lamp must remain a clear quartz glass. Part of upgrading a part to SilverStar is coating the capsule with an amethyst colored enamel. NHTSA had specified that we could not do that to this part. We appealed this standard through NHTSA, resulting in a change in the wording, allowing us to finally offer a SilverStar upgrade for this part, but this part is still under development. We are hoping to launch this part sometime in the late fall to early winter timeframe.

So as you can see, the H13 'Stars should be here later this fall or winter. Keep the faith-they're coming!

Sweet...

Looks like Ford was trying to modify the specs so only THEY could sell us light bulbs.

Ford has been on this band wagon lately of trying to shut down the aftermarket parts companies, and also, coming up with simular parts as OEM parts on their fordaccessories and fordracing web sites.
