Locking Gas Cap

Locking Gas Cap
Anyone else using a locking gas cap? When i purchased my mustang Ford did not even have a OEM for the 2006 model let alone my 2007. In my area Gas is high and you have alot of people that will take your gas no problem so I knew i needed one.
So i went to stant website and they had one for 2006, so i figured it was the same for my 2007. I found a place online and purchased it for about $18.47 ($12.01 for the cap and $6.46 for shipping) shipped to my door.
I am not sure if i can post the website as i wouldnt want to take away from the forum sponsers. But the gas cap number from stant is 10510. So far i have had it on two days and put on about 70 miles and no warning lights, so I guess it sealed properly. My only grip is it has the ring for the tether system, but did not come with one and I dont think i can get the one off the OEM.

RE: Locking Gas Cap
No, I have an 05. When I picked my car up and put gas in it for the first time, I didn't replace the OEM cap correctly, the computer let me know about it right away. Chances are good yours won't thow a code with the new cap if it hasn't done so already.

RE: Locking Gas Cap
i dont think it will either, I really do not think they did any/many changes at all between the 2005 and 2007 in way of the engine and fuel system etc.
On any car i purchase i always put a locking gas cap on. People do not realize that in Metropolitan area's more gas gets stolen that way, heck most people do not even know if someone removes 2 to 5 gallons from there tank, unless you are like me that monitors it like crazy.

RE: Locking Gas Cap
I would like to put on a locking cap.
But i'm going to cut off that stupid plastic strap that lets the cap hang and scratch the side of the car while i'm filling up,all they had to do was put a lip to hang the cap on the back of the gas door.

RE: Locking Gas Cap
Well if you purchase the stant cap it does not have the tether (strap) you talk about, so it should work out fine for you.
