Default lots of non preformance questions

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums and I posted some questions in the new member area, I was told that this was the place to properly ask most of the questions I had...

my post:

Hey everyone, after lots of waiting and saving i finally got "the car", I have owned 2 oldsmobiles, both more than 10 years old, so it goes without saying that I couldn't be more thrilled about getting this car.

I don't have any pictures of it on my computer yet, but i found one thats close enough to mine online,
http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/time...onyCoupe-1.jpg

I think the only difference is that I got a white "pony stripe" instead of a pearl one in the picture, besides that I'm pretty sure its all the same... In any case, I come seeking wisdom about car modifications. Between college and everything else going on, I figure the best way to learn about most of this is to just jump right in and ask the other drivers. I have a pretty good idea of how I want my car to end up looking, the problem I'm having is how to get there. I've spent the past few nights stuck at my computer researching prices, name brands, reviews, pictures, directions, etc.

What I've come up with seems to me to be a pretty standard set of appearence-enhancing plastic:

-A full body kit: (front, side, and rear skirts)
My two top picks for this are:
http://www.autoaccessory4u.com/05fomuv63dbo.html
http://www.racepages.com/performance...ped_brand=true

I think I like the second one a little more, not to mention that its cheaper... but I can't seem to get a decent picture besides the one on that site which worries me.

-Rear QuarterPanel scoops
Top pick for this:

-Side QuarterWindow scoops
http://www.autoaccessory4u.com/0520fomugtxe1.html

What I'm really looking for is someone who has ordered something like this or who knows a better way to handle it. The descriptions on the autoaccessory site make it seem quite simple. Also, I'm not completely new to the field, I've worked on lots of cars, taking things apart and putting them together but nothing huge, I'm defianatly not an expert. The scoop's descriptions say they attach with a single peice of tape? Seems pretty odd.
Also, my dad and I have painted a car, and keeping in mind that we started from scratch, we did a pretty good job, do you need to be an expert to paint these peices? What is the ballpark on how much I'll spend just on paint? Will I be expected to drill into the side of my car to install a body kit? How rare are the distributers of these items? I would really like to get my hands on this stuff before spending this much money.

Any advice, tips, comments, anything would be very much appreciated to help me get off the ground with all of this stuff, Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to talking to you all.

Default RE: lots of non preformance questions

Those body kits look. The first link's looks better than the second imo. (it also matches the quarter and window scoops u want). The thing you have to know about the new mustangs and the kits and parts out for them; 3m double sided tape is your friend! Alot of the parts are applied with the use of double sided tape, which is actually really strong and can tear your paint off if you try to remove it after its applied. The key there is to prep the surface of appliaction. About the paint, it all depends on what kind of quality you want. If you know what you are doing, im sure you can do a descent job, Most of these kits come prepped for paint. If you want show quality, you may have to go to a proffessional body shop, who btw will probably install the parts cheap or maybe free if you get the whole kit painted there. Price depends on where you go and the quality. The distibutors, depend on where you live. Here in SoCal, there are tons of places that have the parts and kits on show and on cars. Check out www.ponybuilder.com You might see something you like.
