2006 WARRANTY CONCERNS
I and I am sure 1000's of other people have purchased a Ford vehicle in 2006. A 2006 Model Year Ford or Mercury vehicle sold on or after July 14, 2006 will be covered by a complementary 5 years / 60,000 miles Ford ESP PowertrainCARE Extended Service Contract with a $100 deductible.
I purchased my 2006 Mustang GT on June 26, 2006 and also opted for an extended 1 yr warrenty more than the 3yr that cost $995 and I was very PISSED to say the least that the warrenty changed to 5 years / 60,000 miles on July 14th!
Everyone that has a 2006 and got screwed on the warranty change should contact Ford's Customer Relations Office to express their concerns. Maybe if enough people call they will change the policy and make all 2006 Fords have the same warranty coverage.

They are doing it because the competition has been doing it for a while...
you snooze... you loose...
Too bad for those people who bought their cars on July 13th!.. now THEY are one ones that are pissed... the dealership could have told time to stall just one more day in order to take advantage of the new warentee.

I highly doubt they are going to go back and make all 2006 model year vehicles eligible no matter how many calls they get. Just think of the extra liability that they would be opening themselves up to. It's one thing to do this and plan for it, it's another to go back and extend the warranty on a few milllion vehicles. Call, complain, cry and yell all you want. But it's no different than them offering a special promotion be it rebates or financing a week after you buy the car.
It's a promotion to get '06 models out of the showrooms, it makes them much easier to sell because when someone is given the option of two virtually identical vehicles for basically the same price and one has a 5yr/60k mile and the other a 3yr/36k mile warranty, it's a no brainer on which will sell.

The topic starter must be desperate putting just about the same topic in "Brand News, Concepts, Rumors & Discussion" aswell...
Anyway, I just copy pasted my reply from that thread for all to read here:
It sure bites, but that is what happens. And you can foresee that sort of thing when they have to get rid of their 2006 stock to start selling the new 2007 model year. This time you're the one screwed, next time it's another guy. Would you have a fit too if they sold the 2007 car with 20 more horsepower?
Fact: You bought a 2006 car, and get the warranty coverage for that model year.
Fact: You bought it before the close out sale really started on the 06's.
Fact: You therefore are NOT eligable for the percs that come with the close out sale, or the new model year for that matter.
Sure, I would have been pissed off. But you simply can't ask ford to extend the warranty for all the 2006 year. Hell, then us 2005's will feel left out.

Well that kind of makes me feel a little ripped off, since my sale was on July 8, just missing this promotion. On the other hand, I feel a little better that I managed to get an additional 3 year warranty (full 6 year) that covers nearly everything for only $850. That compared to your 1 year extension for $1000. That was, sorry to say, a total ripoff.
I'd check the fine print if I was you. Ford's 0% financing and "Free gas" for a year excluded "Mustang GT". I'm betting that the "extended warranty applied to V6 2006 models. I'm not positive , but I'd be willing to make a small beer wager.
