That isn't the same thing and you know it so why even say it? Most companies will give you back the difference if something goes on sale a few days after you purchased it, all you need do is ask. Or you could just take it back and buy it again, which is perfectly acceptable if they have a no questions asked return policy. I don't think ford should include any 06's, instead how about actually lowering the price to sell them.

Actually it is a promotion for 2006 vehicles (regardless if Ford calls it one or not) to make them easier to sell, again how would a dealer sell a similar vehicle when the curret model year has an extra 2yrs/24k miles on the warranty for no additional cost, it would be very difficult and the price would have to be considerably cheaper as this effects resale value also.

I realize it applies to all 2007 Mustangs regardless of when they were sold, but in reality how many do you think were sold before that date? Job 1 was June 5th. Now if I had been one of the individuals that bought a 2007 Mustang in the short 1 month time frame that they were at dealerships prior to 7/15 and Ford announced that the remaining 2007 vehicles would have a longer warranty then I would be mad. But making previous model years more competitive with the current model year vehicles is something every manufacturer does every year. Normally it is promotions for special financing or discounts, in this case Ford extended the warranty to match 2007 vehicles.

I work at a Ford dealership, and we actually didnt know about the change in warranty UNTIL the day it was announced, so a customer that came in on the 14th, we could not have stalled because we didnt know that they would change the warranty. The new powertrain warranty is actually supposed to show customers how confident Ford is in their domestic product, and to set us apart from the other domestic auto makers. The '06 warranty is something that they did to try and move the old inventory, but the '07 warranty does actually apply to all '07 models, reguardless of date purchased, so '07 ownders have nothing to be pissed about at all. They will receive an updated warranty in the mail. Also, the '07 doesn't have the $100 deductible, but both come with 5yr/60,000 mi roadside assitance as well.

Does anyone have experience with purchasing an extended warranty outside of Ford? I won't start looking till the 3yr warranty runs out, but looking for good/bad advice on these warranty's.

I bought mine end of april. I am not too worried.

If something happens after 3 years, I might have a leg to stand on with ford.

But knowing me, if something happens to the engine. I wont want to reassemble it stock.

And I would usually rather pay for parts than bring my car to anyone for service even if it is under warrentee.

Damn I bought mine on July 4th....but I really don't see me keeping my car beyond 3 years anyways, prolly go for a GT around that time.

I know it's hard to take, but be a man about it! If you bought a car before the longer warranty was offered, you made your decision based upon what was offered at the time and they delivered on it. Stuff happens.

Following the logic that the longer warranty should be given to the earlier buyers could extend into things like added features at a later date. If you had bought a car and then the next month they put in a different engine with 50 more horsepower, would you feel that they OWED you the new engine?

When my '07 GT was delivered on August 4th, the dealer gave me a form to sign that contains all the new warranty information (the signature acknowledges that I understand the new warranty terms). The dealer and I each got a copy of the signed form for our records.
