3,200 Miles and My 1st Problem?

RE: 3,200 Miles and My 1st Problem?
Well I took mine to the dealer as suggested. Before I could finish telling him what I heard while turning right or left he stopped me and said, "Your mustang will be the fifth one this month!" He acknowledged the TSB right away and told me it would take between 2 and 3 hours to repair. He promised no more problems after his work was done. I'm dropping it off tonight!
One rumor says that Ford brought on an additional supplier for rear end assembly parts and they weren't quite up to snuff. It doesn't really matter to me as long as they acknowledge and fix!

Does it affect certain cars built between certain dates or where it was built?

BRO TAKE YOUR CAR IN ASAP. SOUND LIKE THE EXACT SAME NOISE I HAD
FIST TIME 3200 MILES - DEALER CHANGED RING AND PINION
SECOND TIME 6000 MILES - DEALER CHANGED CLUTCH PACK IN REAR END
THIRD TIME 8900 MILES - DEALER CHANGED CLUTCH PACK IN REAR END
I HAVE HAD A RENTAL ALMOST AS MUCH MY STANG IN THE LAST 4 MNTH.
ONE MORE TIME AND I GET THOSE FOCKERS ON A LEMON LAW AND GET A BRAND NEW ONE.
THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID IM THE 3RD PERSON HE HAS HAD WITH THIS SAME THING. I THINK THERE IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW OR SOMTHING.[:@]

They started out just changing the rear end oil in some cars, then they went to ring and pinion gears and ultimately replaced the clutch packs......now they are just going straight to the clutch packs.

I like your dealer........ I took mine to the dealer and the first thing he told me is it was my fault. OBTW, the problem I'm talking about was the tint scratching on the inside. The dealer installed the tint and refused to take care of the problem....NICE![:@]

RE: 3,200 Miles and My 1st Problem?
If the rear end makes noise when you turn, especially at low speed say in a parking lot or turning into a drive, the fix is very easy. Get a 4oz bottle of friction modifier and put it in the rear axle. Problem solved. As someone stated earlier, the clutch packs in the posi-trac units on these things are noisy.
Mine has synthetic lube + 2 bottles of friction modifier. No issues after the 2nd bottle of friction modifier!
Adding a bottle is easy too.
Hope this helps.

Change the fluid to a good synthetic (75W140) and add 4 ozs of friction modifier. You're rear end clutches are noisy. Drive a couple of weeks. The noise should go away. If not, there's a TSB on the problem and your local Ford folks should replace the clutch packs. BTW - the noise is not indicative of a real fault, and won't effect the rear end, although noisy!

I had synthetic in mine plus one bottle of friction modifier. One more bottle of friction modifier did the trick.

That's what it is! I've had that problem for a while and was assuming it was nothing. But it seems like it happens to me mostly when i have the a/c running, probably has nothing to do with it. I hope now the dealership won't be dicks about it and try to screw me over.
Great thread!
